Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide

If there is ever a zombie apocalypse, here are some essential rules (in no particular order of importance) you should follow to stay safe and survive (and maybe have fun).

1. 1. Stay together with friends/family that you can trust. Try to avoid picking up strangers and stay away from people that would slow your traveling down or go crazy later.

2. 2. Move to a decent sized city that has the resources you need to survive, such as: lots of food, water, supermarkets, hospital (or pharmacy for medicine), gun/weapon store, high rise buildings, and a car dealership.

3. 3. Live in a big shopping mall because it would be easy for you to eat, sleep, do something fun, and use resources available.

4. 4. If you are in a big group (10+ people), assign different roles for people and have people take shifts for “looking out” for zombies.”

5. 5. Always have cars/modified tanks outside ready to go in case of an emergency. You need to plan an escape route because hungry zombies will not top chasing you until they get food (your brain)!

6. 6. Always travel in pairs (preferably someone not too important to you) or more no matter where you go. You never know when a zombie can attack, so it’s better if your (less significant) wingman gets eaten instead of you.

7. 7. Eat healthy food from food courts/supermarkets. If zombies ever sneak up on you, you want to be in good shape to outrun them.

8. 8. Keep yourself occupied so that you do not get bored (and go insane). You should play video games, watch TV, play sports, go on zombie hunts once in a while, play zombie sniping games, or do anything that you consider fun.

9. 9. Keep up with the news and social media. There could be people out there that need help or can help you.

10. 10. Whatever you do, always watch your back. Do not get too comfortable and always be with people that you have (or can build) a good relationship with. You do not want to be with people that will cause you trouble or cause you to get eaten.

  1. I get the feeling you have seen Dawn of the Dead. I would now stay in something as large as a shopping mall, even though it has plentiful resources and living space, because an area that large would require an extreme amount of effort to secure the perimeter. In fact it would be nearly impossible. Also, you should avoid most cities because they contain high concentrations of people. More people means the zombie virus will spread faster, increasing the threat to your survival. The best thing to do is find a moderately sized town or village, one that has the basic amenities such as food market, gas station, etcetera, in which you can set up base to survive the zombie apocalypse. I have read that heading west would be a good idea because it has a lower concentration of people, more wilderness for hunting food, and the flat landscape of the Great Plains which allow you to see any approaching objects, such as zombies. 2. I get the feeling that I'm having a class teaching me how to protect myself and thousands of zombies are getting close to the city and few of them are knocking on my windows now. This survival guide is really serious. I like the movies of Twilight and The Vampire Diary. There are two different ways about how to change human to vampire. So I always think that maybe zombies are much prettier than I thought. Maybe they don't change human to zombies and kind to human. It's a good idea to stay with family and friends, they are the people we can trust when danger comes. But I don't like wait to survival. I think the worst thing in the world is waiting for death or some bad things and can't do nothing to save myself. I hope zombies and vampires will never show up. I prefer to say hello to them in the movies or novels.(ENGL 106)

  3. I like your second point about moving to a decent sized city for supplies. But you need to remember, the bigger the city, larger the population , and that means a larger number of zombies. It would be better to organise supply raids on stores while keeping your trail hidden and staying away from crowded areas. Also, i think you missed a point where you need to talk about weapon management. Like in my post, shotguns are not a good idea, but rifles and automatic pistols should prove effective. Although what i am thinking of now is the Dawn of the Dead and Resident Evil Zombies, i guess we don't really have a plan for the OTHER kind, also known as fast movers. Something we should consider in our plans for survival. ENGL106

  4. I get the feeling that you have been involved in more than one zombie apocalypse. If one were to happen on campus, I would be sure to tag along in your group. I really enjoy point 5. Why? Because if all else fails, you can just drive over a zombie. Living in a shopping mall is also a good idea. You have the mattress stores, food courts and electronic stores. Not so sure I’d want to travel with my family. They are people that are kind of important to me and my younger siblings might slow me down and I would not want to have to choose between having them being eaten by zombies or me being eaten by zombies. But I will be sure to save your plan on my phone and iPod in case the zombies attack. ENGL 106

  5. You sound very experienced, have you done this kind of this before? I liked point 6. It made a lot of sense to me; if you're being chased by zombies, you'd rather it was your, as you put it, "less significant" wingman that gets eaten and not you.
I read your point about going to zombie hunts and while those may be fun...the line between the hunter and the hunted might get kind of blurry if you're not careful. You definitely do not wanted to be in a situation where you're out and about and you become the hunted on purpose and not just because of the apocalypse. ENGL 106
